The famous (or infamous?) year of 2012 is now upon us and everyone I know is going through their own version of change and sometimes even chaos. Welcome to the new year! If you are experiencing upheaval in your life know that you are not alone. You are actually in the majority and for some of us, being in the majority is, in and of itself, a new experience. We'll all get through it in our own way and I'm confident that whatever is on the other side of this is wonderful and well worth it!
Thank you all for the wonderful support after the death of my mother on Thanksgiving Day. Your messages, cards and kind words of love have made this journey that much easier. I also want to thank those of you who made donations in her honor to RAGOM (Golden Retriever rescue) and Feline Rescue. Many of you came to her service and that meant a lot to our family. All in all it is greatly appreciated.
My mom passed away on Thanksgiving. It was very fitting on the day when we're thinking about what we're thankful for. My family spent the day with her and it was peaceful and beautiful. As many of you know she had suffered from Alzheimer's for many years. Her memorial service is at 2 pm on Friday, December 9 at the historic Lakewood Chapel in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation is from 1:30- 2:00. Here are some pictures of Virginia Stewart Swanson, the best mom anyone could ever hope for.

This is my thirteen year old Golden named Mystic with his best friend Billy. They are often nuzzling each other and keeping each other warm. Neither was very young when they first met but over time they realized that being friends was a pretty neat deal.
It seems that every newsletter lately has included news of the passing of one of my animal family members and this edition is no exception. I’m sad to report the death of my lovely cat Sam (Samantha) who passed away September 30 due to massive kidney failure. She is the same cat who survived the bacterial infection that killed two of my cats in early August. It was clearly her time.
